Increase in mobile phone use by drivers
02/26/2010
RoadSafe remains concerned about the level of mobile phone use notably among van and truck drivers.
The latest DfT survey shows that there has been an increase. Since the last survey in September 2008 the proportion of drivers observed using hand-held mobile phones whilst driving increased (from 1.1 per cent to 1.4 per cent for car drivers and from 2.2 per cent to 2.6 per cent for van and lorry drivers).
