Promoting civic engagement to improve governance in infrastructure projects: World Bank seeking best practice examples to showcase
The World Bank's South Asia Region (SAR) is seeking to document and learn from good practice on civic engagement in infrastructure projects that have led to an inclusive, participatory and transparent approach to project preparation, implementation and monitoring. The main goal of the initiative is to build knowledge on how civic engagements have ensured improved governance in infrastructure projects by sharing experiences and best practice across Bank regions. It is aligned with the Bank's governance and anti-corruption agenda. SAR is collecting information on projects where demand-side approaches have been implemented and civic engagement has been effectively achieved. Five case studies will be selected and showcased in a workshop to be held in India. If you have some good examples to contribute, please send the project name and contact person to Rajesh Rohatgi (rrohatgi@worldbank.org) or Amarendra Singh (amarendrasingh@worldbank.org).
